Question 2: Suction pipe connection
The oil suction pipe should be as short, straight, large, and thick as possible. The oil suction pipe should generally be equipped with a coarse filter with a nominal flow rate not less than twice the pump flow rate (the filtering accuracy is generally 80 ~ 180um). The oil suction pipe port and the oil return pipe port of the oil pump must be less than 200mm from the lowest oil level of the oil tank.
Special attention: An oil filter is not allowed to be installed on the suction pipe of the plunger pump. The diameter of the stop valve on the suction pipe should be one block larger than the diameter of the suction pipe. The length of the suction pipe is L2500mm, and there are no more than two pipe elbows.
Avoid connecting the oil discharge pipe of the overflow valve with the oil suction pipe of the hydraulic pump, as shown in Figure 1-1. The oil discharge pipe of the overflow valve is connected with the suction pipe of the hydraulic pump. Because the overflow valve discharges hot oil, the temperature of the hydraulic pump and the entire hydraulic system will rise, and it is a vicious circle, which will eventually lead to component or system failure.
If the suction pipe of the hydraulic pump leaks, avoid continuing to use it. When the suction pipe of the hydraulic pump leaks, air will be sucked into the hydraulic pump, resulting in insufficient oil suction of the hydraulic pump and a lot of noise. Air entering the hydraulic system will not only cause cavitation and increase noise, but also deteriorate the oil. Therefore, if the suction pipe of the hydraulic pump leaks, it must be dealt with in time.
When piping, avoid excessive oil suction resistance of the hydraulic pump. As shown in Figure 1-2(a), there are several sections of hard pipe, shut-off valve, filter, and a section of hose on the suction line of the hydraulic pump, which require more pipe joints. It can be seen that the total pressure loss on the pipeline will be very large. If the local flow area of the pipeline becomes smaller when piping, the problem will be more serious. It is easy to cause insufficient oil suction of the hydraulic pump until the hydraulic pump is damaged, it is good as shown in Figure 1-2(b). Avoid connecting the drain pipes of several hydraulic pumps in parallel to form an equal-diameter pipe before passing to the oil filling tank. Avoid that the highest part of the oil pipe connected to the drain port on the hydraulic pump body is lower than the axis of the pump. The oil drain contained in the oil drain cavity of the hydraulic pump body also plays the role of lubricating the movement of the pump shaft. If the highest part of the oil drain pipe is lower than the axis of the pump, the hydraulic oil in the oil drain port is completely drained for lubrication. The effect will be invalid.
